This pair of clam shells hosts the fleshy cushion of the clam body, and an iridescent pearl. (Yes, we know it should really be in an oyster, but oysters are gnarly and ugly. This gives us the chance to admire the clam’s graceful shape and banded colouring.)
The subtle colours are not any sort of surface coating; it is caused by heating the copper to particular temperatures and then quenching. The piece is then lacquered, excluding air, so that the colours will remain as you see them.
Dimensions: 18cm x 18cm x 18cm for the double shell, £145. Without the upper shell, £95.
