I was asked to create a set of sculptures representing all nine of the categories of dahlia, by Steve Edney, Head Gardener at The Salutation Gardens, Sandwich.

This is the cactus dahlia, so called for obvious reasons, and the petals curve back on themselves to make horn-like tubes. You can imagine how fiddly it is then to have to do the same for the bud.
